BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections
BOTOX Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the first treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While individual results may vary, usually one 10-minute treatment will yield a noticeable improvement that will last for several months. BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the muscle contractions that cause lines in the forehead and wrinkles around eyes. The risk of adverse reactions is low, but every person reacts slightly differently to the procedure. There may be a slight bruising at the injection site, and possible redness or swelling, but normal activities can be resumed immediately. Full results will be seen between three to seven days after treatment.
Dysport® Injections
Dysport is the latest wrinkle relaxing injectable, and the medical staff at M.D. Laser Studio is fully trained and certified by Medicis to dispense it. Dysport, or abobotulinumtoxinA, is a new product similar to Botox. It is delivered by injection, but the dosing is not the same, and should not be compared unit to unit. Dysport has been reported by some to act more quickly than Botox, but that varies from person to person. While some clients might prefer Botox, Dysport offers an alternative. As with all injectables, there may be slight bruising at the injection site, and possible redness or swelling. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. Dysport has been used in patient care in the United Kingdom since 1991, and is FDA approved for use in the United States.
