Dermal fillers are used to plump and smooth deeper depressions such as those around the mouth or under the eyes,  to contour cheek pads or jawlines, and to create fuller lips. Fillers can also be used to correct imperfections such as scars and an unflattering nose profile. Fillers are one of two product categories that constitute injectables. The Juvéderm® product portfolio (Ultra, Ultra Plus, Volbella, Vollure, Voluma) and Restylane® product portfolio (Silk, Restylane, Lyft, Refyne, Defyne) are all made from a clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on a natural substance, called hyaluronic acid or HA for short. The gel in injected into the skin in tiny amounts with either a very fine needle or thin blunt tipped cannula. The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to the skin. The results can last 6 months to 2 years and often beyond. 

Another category of fillers is the biostimulatory type. Examples of which include Bellafill®, Sculptra®, and Radiesse®. The volumizing effect of these fillers comes from the creation of collagen stimulated by the product.
